Hey there! I am so glad you could come back for another blog about my week. This week I had a great time at the Columbus Radio Group sitting in on their marketing and promotions meeting.

The time I spent at my mentorship site this week was probably my favorite thing I have done so far with the Columbus Radio Group. I sat in on one of their marketing and promotional meetings with my mentor who helped to head the meeting. The main goal was to figure out the specifics of a couple upcoming events and brainstorm ways to grow their smaller stations.

Girls Night Out!

The first event was their girls night out (Click here to learn more). The main point made was that their existing clients need to be invited to the events. By inviting clients they are strengthening the bonds to grow the relationship and further their business. Also, the discussion talked about ways to expand the event. The Columbus Radio Group is focused on expanding their reach, clients, services, etc. When developing events they are constantly looking to the future and how they can make it better. They edit and tweak events to perfection.

March for Meaals

This was most noticeable when they were working on the Mark Wahlberg Dealership event. The event is called March for meals (Click here to learn more!) and it is similar to a walk a thon but for food. They start at one Wahlberg location and walk all 16 miles to the other for charity. As I have said before, CRG is all about helping the local community. When they are picking companies to work with they want to build a great connection with them while bettering their community.

When planning these events the CRG is always meeting up with all kinds of problems. Not enough sponsors, location issues, and every day annoying mishaps. But when one door closes another one opens right up. That is also how I see life. If I am stuck on something I just go onto the next thing to ensure I am using my time wisely. I would not say I just give up but I am able to see the bigger picture because quite honestly not everything matters. Every failure makes you better or at least that has been my case. The problems my mentors face may not be the same as the ones I encounter in my personal life but always looking for that new door is the same mentality I have when faced with an issue.

So far in my mentorship most of the issues that have arisen have been scheduling conflicts. Personally, I believe that time is the most valuable thing one can possess. With that said whenever a mentorship time has had to be canceled I thank them anyway and ask if there is a different time they would be able to reschedule for. I am learning this method has made me seem more professional by showing my mentors I am serious about this experience and what I am getting out of it. It ensures I am respectful and thankful for their time.
