SCHEY Induction & Workshops

SCHEY

The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre is a selective professional development program at Ohio University focused on communication, relationship-building, and career readiness. As a first-year member, I completed new hire workshops that introduced me to professional standards, collaborative work, and foundational skills that prepared me for future client-facing and leadership experiences.

Workshop #1

The first workshop pushed me to think about leadership beyond titles and positions. I began identifying my personal leadership strengths and the environments where I naturally add value, which led to creating a vision board. It helped realize that leadership starts with self-awareness before it ever becomes influence.

Workshop #2

The second workshop focused more on applying leadership in real situations. I was challenged to think about how I communicate, make decisions, and show up in team dynamics. This session mad me become more intentional about leading with clarity and accountability in the organizations I’m involved in.

Walter Center Signature Event

Attending LEAD Live with Bas Baalmans expanded my view of leadership beyond campus and into a global context. Hearing perspectives on leadership and business in the Netherlands reinforced the importance of adaptability and cultural awareness, pushing me to think more strategically about leading in diverse environments.

First Ever BRANDTALK

Leadership, Design & Execution

The Future

BRANDTALK was the first-ever event in a new ODMA speaker series designed to create meaningful conversations between students and brands. In collaboration with Donatos, this event set the foundation for what BRANDTALK would become; an adaptable series that can partner with different brands while maintaining a consistent identity and purpose.

As the Event Lead , I played a central role in shaping what the series should look and feel like moving forward. I worked closely with the College of Business events team, designed the event presentation, created a branded audience activity, and oversaw the design and ordering of event merchandise. This role allowed me to blend strategy, creativity, and execution while managing real stakeholders and deadlines.

Leading the first-ever BRANDTALK strengthened my confidence in owning a project from concept to execution. Beyond the event itself, I created detailed guidelines to support future BRANDTALK events, helping ensure consistency, brand connection, and continuity for the students who lead the series next. This experience reinforced my interest in building experiences that are not only successful in the moment, but sustainable long-term.
